Or it could be that some white person moved into the neighborhood, throwing their privilege around and got checked. Cuz you know, that happens.

wait…i think i get it…do most white people think racism = being bullied about your race…?
okay whatever, im going back to studying herbs…

That is EXACTLY what most white people think.
They think “I can’t say the n-word because it’s a mean word referring to race” NOT “the n-word is a tool of degradation, dehumanization, and systemic, institutional racism,” which is why they’re convinced that the word “cracker” is just as bad. And so on. Hiring and job discrimination is about being mean to people who are different, not the structural hoarding of resources designed to maintain a racial underclass, ergo affirmative action is just as bad, etc., etc., etc.
And I mean, that basically is what they teach you at school in this country …

oh my god!  thank you cara.  like, i finally get it.  see, i was raised by people who talked about racism as historical legacy, and systematic oppression, and oh my god!  i cannot believe i am 32 y., actually worked as an anti racism trainer and just now have finally boiled it down.
i need a smoke cause my mind just got blown…

Wow.
y’know, seeing this typed out makes me wonder how I never connected these dots before, myself.
